On Our Way

We drove away from the house by 9 am on Friday, November 11, 2011. We had an uneventful drive south with the weather cooperating. we had dry pavement all the way to Red Bluff, CA. where we spent the night in a Walmart parking lot. Had Round Table Pizza for dinner~~delicious!!

Saturday saw us in another Walmart parking lot in Bakersfield, CA. This time we had Pizza Hut for dinner. We were so pooped we didn’t even call my brother, Jim--I hope he’ll forgive me if he sees this.

The next day, Sunday, as we were driving thru L.A. and were very early for our next stop at Santa Fe RV Park before crossing the border, we stopped for a few hours at Sue and Sam’s. We had a great visit, ate Chinese food, and continued on our way.

On Monday, the 14th, we crossed at Tijuana; I was Able to get our tourist visas stamped while Bob stayed with the RV and trailer which got a thorough inspection. In leaving the station we again screwed up getting on the scenic road and had to stop for help from the kindness of strangers. But we finally made it and even had pesos for the toll road. We are spending our first night in Baja this trip in Cielito Lindo RV park south of San Quintin.

Where road improvement is completed, the driving is a dream! Where they are still working on it, the road is deplorable. The best advice is to just go slow and take it easy!!!!
