CRAFTS CONTINUED

Will It Never End?

Our neighbor's fish cleaning station which attracts many seagulls. They do not forget and come back
every day demanding more scraps. And, thus, we get the Seagull acapella choir.

After the kelp baskets,  we learned pine needle coiling in a wall hanging. The coiling was around a fair sized sand dollar.  Sea grass was added to the coiling and a piece of kelp for a hanger.

This is my pine needle wall hanging.

I enjoyed working on a gourd the best.  We first chose a size and shape, `decided how and where to cut it, scraped and sanded the inside, then painted the inside. Deciding what to do on the outside is the challenge!

This is my gourd~~I'm very pleased with the
results.
I gave this to my walking buddy, Barb, for her birthday.

KEEPING UP

Better than being DOWN!

Finally a fiery red sunrise!

We have again spent two nights in Loreto in the Hotel Plaza to experience a little respite from the beach.

The broken pot on the right with twine holding it
together typifies conditions in Baja!

A few weeks ago the streets were full of Mardi
Gras.  On Saturday night there was a parade that
seemed to feature the whales that people come to
Loreto to see.

This weekend is a gathering of beautiful motorcycles that make a great deal of noise.

IT'S THE SEASON~~
The Coming of the Whale Shark

This photo was taken from a drone by Norm Pawson who is camped on Coyote Beach. This "baby" appeared in our bay on the last day of January which turned out to be a very warm, calm day. Many kayakers and paddle boarders hurried onto the water to see the whale shark close up.

These two photos taken by Jerri and Norm Pawson.

This photo by Nan Simpson, also camped on the beach.

One of the near restaurant-bars held a 60's/Hippy costume event recently; many attended and reportedly all had a good
time. I show a few photos:

Barb's Bodacious Boobs and Jim hamming it up!

KG, one of the resident painters on our beach

I don't know these people, but note fellow in rear in gold Speedo.

CRAFTY HANDIWORK

Is it a Craft?

Barb, spraying glow in the dark paint

Our first project in craft class was wire wrapping. I'm showing the two examples that I finished in class. The first
one to hang in a window. The other is an hors doerve spoon.

The next class featured a wall hanging with sea grass and whatever else one wanted to use. I show some examples and
end with mine.

This is mine~hideous but finished.

Last week's class was making kelp baskets. Sewing wet, slippery pieces of kelp was not easy but was doable!
Strangely, I don't have a photo of my kelp basket. I'll have to do that later.

I found it!! I'm rather pleased with how it turned out.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Hope Your Holidays Were Jolly!!

Our Christmas celebrating started on Christmas eve with dinner of barbecued ribs at Armando's located at the
beach, Santispac. On Christmas day, Coyote Beach had a potluck in the afternoon. Bob and I participated in that
and then went to Hotel Serenaded for the traditional Christmas dinner of turkey and dressing. We were thoroughly
stuffed and vowed we would not do both next year!!!!!

Belly Button rock

This rock is called the belly button rock. Barb, who walks with me every morning, and I decided to glue button shells
on this rock with the goal to cover the top entirely by the time we leave the beach this spring. I think we will have
no problem with this goal!!!
