On January 25, about 6 carloads from the beach drove south past the end of the Bay of Conception. There we accessed 10 miles of very rough rocky road that took us to a beach directly on the Sea of Cortez. It was very lovely there but too windy for Bob and I to want to set up the kayak; so he sat in the sun and looked for shells. We agreed that we don't enjoy 4-wheeling on rocky roads enough to go on any more like day trips!!!!!
This past fall one of our 'beachcombers' died and his wife sent down some of his ashes. Near one of our gorgeous sunsets a small ceremony was performed: while his ashes were sprinkled in the water and wine poured in after them, a 3-paddle salute was formed while we all wished Marty a speedy trip!!
I show you now the finished baskets we made from gourds with seagrass weaving on the top of it. Deb's looks more like a shoe, but it is a basket!!!
Deb's shoe basket (but is now doing duty as a bird feeder). |
